Many Southern California residents prefer to take mini-vacations to Big Bear and ask “where can I rent a Big Bear cabin?”
There are lots of options to choose from and questions to ask for renting a Big Bear cabin:
- How much do you want to spend?
- What attractions or activities are you looking forward to trying?
- Do you plan on spending most of your time outside the cabin, or relaxing inside?
Picking the right Big Bear Cabin Rental
Odds are, you’ll want to be somewhere close to everything, in a cabin large enough to house your entire family (or maybe 2 small families) while still keeping things inexpensive.
Moonridge is a great location, since it’s close to the ski slopes, lake, village shopping center, grocery store and other amenities. When looking at Moonridge vacation rentals, we recommend sticking with lower Moonridge. Basically, the closer to the golf course, the better. Once you get up into the hills of Upper Moonridge, you’ll find that you’re spending quite a bit of time driving up and down steep and winding roads to get to and from your cabin. When it snows, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be scared just to leave your cabin, unless you have chains (which are a must in Big Bear during the winter), and a lot of experience driving in snow. Staying in Lower Moonridge means less driving and fewer narrow, hilly roads (that may or may not be plowed quickly when it snows). Moonridge Family Lodge is located in Lower Moonridge, on a street that is one of the first to be plowed, and is even walkable to the zoo, golf course and Big Bear Ski Resort!
Within Lower Moonridge, you’ll want to compare prices (Moonridge Family Cabin tends to have excellent prices!), which you can do on sites like airbnb.
